Todd D. Smith, MS, PT, CSCS, PES
Director of PowerCore Athletics

Todd is the co-founder of PowerCore Athletics. He graduated from Daemen College with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He received his M.S. in Exercise Science, Injury Prevention and Health Promotion through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and California University of Pennsylvania. He also is a Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and is a Level 3 USA hockey certified coach.

Amy Pariseau, MS Ed, ATC, PES
Assistant Director
Head Athletic Trainer

Amy graduated from Ball State University in 1998 with a Bachelor's in Science in Athletic Training. She received her Masters of Science in Education from Canisius College in 1999. She is a nationally certified athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainer's Association. In addition, Amy is a Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Prior to joining the PowerCore team, Amy was an outreach coordinator, developing emergency action plans and organizing the medical team for athletic events. One of her duties as a staff athletic trainer consisted of covering a local high school training room working with student athletes in a variety of sports. Amy has also worked in Division I college training rooms across the country.

Scott Pugliese, P.T., CSCS

Scott is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Physical Therapist. He is co-founder of Greater Rochester Physical Therapy and PowerCore Athletics. Scott graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston University where he played soccer. He is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has coached soccer, baseball, and lacrosse on the youth levels. Scott grew up in Webster and continues to reside in the Webster/Penfield area.

Bruce Hedlund, CSCS

Bruce attended SUNY Cortland and earned a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science. While attending Cortland, Bruce played football and was named co-captain his senior year. Bruce has earned certifications through National Strength and Conditioning Association and American College of Sports Medicine.
Past experience includes working at Boston College, training several varsity athletic teams, designing exercise programs for students / faculty, and working with are high school athletes. Currently, Bruce is employed as the Wellness Center Coordinator for the Eastside Family YMCA.
Bruce’s past experience includes training athletes in soccer, football, basketball, volleyball, golf, swimming, fencing, and endurance sports.
Bruce is an avid runner and has qualified for the Boston Marathon the past seven years.

Jay Verna, CSCS

Jay completed his degree in Physical Education with a minor in Exercise Physiology from SUNY Brockport in 2004.  He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  In addition, Jay has 11 years experience in corporate fitness where he has developed a variety of exercise programs and classes for populations ranging from athletes to seniors.  He also has developed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for the Webster Athletic Association Girls softball and other area youth athletic teams and has extensive experience in personal training.
